Audi drive select

The Audi drive select dynamic handling system lends fascinating breadth to the driving experience. Audi offers it in most of its models – as an option in some, a standard feature in others, and with the possibility of modular expansion in all of them.

The system is particularly multifaceted in the brand’s flagship, the Audi A8. Here it includes adaptive air suspension plus controlled damping, the engine management system, the eight-speed tiptronic, servotronic steering and the Audi pre sense basic safety system as standard. Audi drive select modifies the characteristics of the shock absorbers, air springs and accelerator, and adapts the shift points, steering boost and trigger time for the belt tensioners.

The driver can vary the function of these components between the three modes “comfort,” “auto” and “dynamic.” Drivers can – within reasonable limits – also compose an “individual” mode corresponding to their own personal ideal by choosing settings from the portfolio. In the most recent models from Audi, “efficiency” mode has been added to the portfolio. Audi drive select is controlled via the MMI operating system or via buttons on the center console, depending on the model.

On request additional modules can be integrated into the system. These vary by model and include the sport differential for variable distribution of power between the rear wheels, adaptive light and dynamic steering.
